We are pleased to announce that as of April 5, 2004, all Voortman cookies are being produced completely trans fats free without compromising on taste.
Voortman Cookies is the first major cookie company to successfully respond to this health concern.
The American grocery publication Supermarket News (Dec.22 pg.29) has ranked trans fats as the third highest food safety concern in North America, right behind E.coli and salmonella, and a Harvard doctor has called it the ‘biggest food processing disaster in history.’
Trans fats are bad for your cholesterol and are believed to contribute to diabetes and Alzheimer's as well. (www.bantransfats.com)
The elimination of trans fatty acids from foods in the grocery industry without compromising on taste is fast becoming a priority and a significant challenge for food manufacturers across North America. It is only a matter of time until other producers will have to address this challenge.
It is our hope that in the very near future all food products which presently contain trans fatty acids will be trans fats free. We are pleased that we have been able to meet this challenge early and can offer a healthier food choice which will taste even better than ever.
Stay tuned.
